Shark Story

We were ate Kalihiwai with the sessions and grandma brown.  This is haw fishermen fished.  They would have really long fishing poles and cast them out then anchor them into the sand so the didn't have to stand there holding the big, long, and heavy fishing poles.  They would tie a loud bell to it so when something tugged on the pull it would ring the bell.  Today at Kalihiwia there was only one guy fishing on the beach.  We were sitting at the bond fire when we heard his bell we saw him run out of his truck with three boy kids behind approximately the age of 13, 6, and 5.  They were all filming him winding up the fishing pole and pulling it back hard.  Me, Dad, and Pepper and Archie's friend Ben ran over to see.  Ben is a fisherman so he kept telling us about him, his boat, an how he liked to fish.  He could tell were the fish was by the ripples it made in the dark.  finally after about 25 minutes we saw a dorsal fin and a tail emerge out of the water and go back in.   Archie and Dad ran to grab there phone and came back.  with every one else.  We saw the shadow in the wave it was a SHARK!!!!!!  A 5 foot long shark!!!!  We pulled it onto the beach and every one saw the shark on the beach.  buster was still walking over cause he didn't want to run or something.  Ben bravely grabbed the shark's tail to pull it back into the water it lashed around and tried to bite him.  He quickly let go.   He went back and grabbed it again!!  He speedily pulled it into the water and it swam away.  Literally 10 seconds later Buster arrived saying "What? What is it!? What happened!?  He was a little sad when he found out it was a shark and he didn't see it.  We all went back amazed.

But But Beach

We started the little walk their on a hot day.  The trail there was sandy, a little rocky, and dry.  We went under tree arches.  We got to the beach and I snorkeled right away.  Their was a pretty strong rip current so we had to stay pretty shallow.  I saw half blue half yellow cleaner wrasses swimming above a deep hole in the coral.  I dived into the deep hole when deeper down in the hole something grayish brown was shimmering.  I dived a little deeper and a huge monk seal darted out of the hole and swam away twisting, turning, and doing loops in the water.  It was awesome to see it flipping and looping in the water.  I swam in and told everyone what I saw.  Then I played with Ren on the rocks.  I snorkeled one more time.  Saw more amazing, bright colored fish and then we wet home.

Kalihiwai beach by warner

Kalihiwia is an awesome beach. First when we got there me and buster boogie boarded down the little sand hill there, Then me, liv, and buster got our two surfboards and paddled up the clear green water. On the way there is a broken bridge that has a rope that you can climb. It is about 12-14 feet high. We jumped of the all grey bridge into the deep deep green water. Since we had only two surfboards we had to rotate on swimming and paddling. After we got back the Session's got hear. Ren got a kayak for his birthday so we kept paddling around with him on his brand knew kayak and us on surfboards. Then me and buster boogie boarded in the small steep waves. After that we went home, ate pesto pasta with steak, and left to Ren's birthday party. At his house we played soccer. Then we ate homemade cake made by pepper. It was mostly chocolate with mint frosting in the inside and vanilla frosting on the outside and sprinkles all over it. It was so good especially with French vanilla ice cream. Then we went home and went to sleep.

Rock quarry beach

I got to the beach and got in the water to boogie board.  The waves were a little choppy and big but they were awesome.  It was only me, Buster, and Dad.  I boogie boarded for about an hour.  I kept seeing dad catch waves on the surfboard.  He got some good ones when he got in the white water he would steer and try to hit us while we were going out.  It was fun.  We were just going out to catch our last wave before we bodysurfed when it started to pour.  It poured so hard it hurt our bare backs.  We ran to shore and covered the towels with our boogieboards and put a log on top so they wouldn't blow away.  We ran back to the water cause the pouring rain didn't hurt when our backs were covered with water so we bodysurfed in the pouring rain.  It eventually stopped raining my dad caught his last wave and jumped of his surfboard onto me and Buster.  It was so funny.  We ran to the river rinsed of our boogieboards and surfboards in the river.  Then we did the rope swing into the river a few times.  Then we tried to dry of with already wet towels from the pouring rain.  Then we drove home.

Ha'ena Beach

We started the hike on a partly cloudy weather.  We hiked along the narrow, wood boardwalk.  It was my family and my cousins the sessions.  The board walk ended and we hiked on a sharp, rocky trial.  We got to the beach.  The sand was piping hot.  We all ran to the shade under a tree and set up.  I got right in the water with my mask and snorkel.  I saw Butterfly fish, a bunch of different kind of Wrasses, and the poisonous White Spotted Toby.  The three coolest things I saw were a fish that was white with bright orange spots on it, giant Parrot fish, and the coolest thing of all a Octopus.  It was tucked in a hole and was pulling shells onto it to hide itself.  I started to swim back to shore and saw about fifty Needle fish.  They looked like tons of clearish green pencils.  I snorkeled a few more times after that and in between I would play in the sand with Ren, Ozzy, and Buster. I went on a walk along the beach with liv and was able to see the Napali cliffs once we got around the bend.  It was really windy on the outside of the lagoon.  It kinda hurt to have the sand hit my feet and ankles.  It was still fun though.  When we got back me and dad went snorkeling. I dived into a deep under water cave hoping to see a White Tipped Reef Shark.  Pepper, Ren, and Ozzy had seen one here before so I thought I might be able to find on in one of the caves or nooks.  We walked back after Me, Buster, Ren, and Ozzy jumped off sand cliffs. We walked back on the road not the boardwalk. We past an tall, big, dark, and awesome cave. We went in it it was dark but awesome. There was water in it from floods in 2018.  I think this beach is an awesome beach to go to to snorkel.

A Bond Fire On The Beach

First we carried all our beach stuff over to the far end of Kalihiwai beach.  I got strait in the water and boogie boarded with Buster.  Then I body surfed.  After that I got a ton of wood for the fire.  Then we dug a river that when the waves came up the would go down the little river and end in the big river.  We would ride down the river on boogie boards.  Then I surfed. It was hard to catch the waves because the crashed almost right on the sand.  Then I made the fire.  It was fun because we made brats and hotdogs on it.  After that I went on a night time swim.  I body surfed.  The waves were perfect for body surfing.  It was so so fun.  Then we made smores and ate brownies.  Then we played soccer.  Then we used headlights and hid from Ruby, Ozzy, and Buster. Me, Ren, and Ren's friend Hugh were the ones hiding.  We made a secret code by flashing our headlights.  Then we cleaned up and went home.  I loved doing this bond fire with my cousins and there friends.

Calalau Canyon

We started the hike in drizzling rain.  I carried Nora in the ergo.  After a few minutes hiking down the rocky, muddy, and slippery road it started to POUR!!!!  Nora loved it!!  The road just got slipperier and muddier.  There was a creak flowing down the road.  We were practically walking up a shallow creek.  At the turn in the road everyone but mom took of their shoes and left them. After about half an hour in the awesome pouring rain we go to a look out.  It was so cool. after the look out we hiked to a waterfall we swam in the pool at the bottom.  After swimming we hiked back on the muddy, clayish, red, rock.  We got our shoes and got back to the car.  After all settling in to the car we drove farther up and in the canyon.  Then we went to the coolest lookout ever.  It was so high.  We hiked down the ridge on an illegal trail called airplane ridge it was really steep and slippery. After hiking back up airplane ridge we went home.  I definitely recommend going to Calalau Canyon to see all the awesome lookouts, waterfalls, and hikes. This was an awesome adventure.

Ruby- Turtles at Anini

Last week we went to a beach called Anini and we saw the turtles in the clear, greenish-blue sea water. It was amazing! I got to go snorkeling for a long time, but then I came back with Pepper, and the twins. One turtle looked orange. He had an orange shell. Pepper gave me a snack. She gave me a string cheese. Also, Ozzy was there.

We are loving Hawaii.  We love the beautiful flowers and the Hawaiian people.  At church on Sunday there were so many nice people.  Warner got peanut butter m and 's.

On Saturday it was amazing! We boogie boarded at Hanalei bay. It was super clear water. I loved it. We walked to the pier. We as in Olivia, Archie, the twins, and I.  It was so fun, and amazing!

I was pushed into my first wave!

Hanalei beach

Surfing and boogie boarding in the blueish-green water at Hanalei is unforgettable.  It is so fun to ride a wave next to the pier.  When I went it was really clean, long waves. I can't wait to go back to Hanalei.

Sleeping Giant trail

I step out of the car onto the dusty, rocky road.  I see the dark highway behind me, tall flat trees, and tiny ants crawling quickly around we start our way up the trail.  It is a little steep and is very rocky and rooty.  I spot big, reddish-gray boulders; smooth strawberry-guava trees, and awesome spotted monarch ferns.  At the top I could see the entire east side of the island and the mountains were drenched in rain.  Big clouds were pouring down on them.  We listened to Josh's favorite song for the day that he passed away.  On the way down I carried Nora in the ergo.  It started to rain, then it poured.  Nora loved it.  She gathered the drops on her short, stubby, tongue.  It was a little slippery going down.  I loved this hike just as much as Mount Saint Helens.
