A Girl After Our Own Heart

Last friday we took Liv on her first ever camp out. We drove up American Fork camp ground to camp with our friends Clay and Hannah. I was a little nervous for how the baby would fare in the outdoors, but I soon found that I had nothing to fear. This is pretty much what her face looked like through the whole experience. Kind of crazy- but very happy.
We had so much fun with her. She loved the sound of the roaring river that was jut a few feet away from our camp fire. She also loved staring into the camp fire. I think it was very mesmorizing to her. Look at the picture on the right. Doesn't she look kind of drunk with happiness?

I've always kind of hoped that my children would enjoy the same things that I enjoy in life. Will they learn to love the beautiful out doors in every way they possibly can? Will they be able to feel that sense of peace that comes when your sitting around a camp fire with friends and you can feel the cool mist coming off of the river as you take a bite of your oh-so-yummy Shmore? And will they experience and cherish that same feeling that I love when you wake up in a tent to birds chirping, and you step outside to find the sun just peaking over the mountains trying to warm you through the big aspens? All I have to say is: I think Liv knows what I'm talking about. I think she is a girl after her parents heart.

Here is a picture that Jaron took of the river by our camp:

Ok One last picture. This is a picture of Liv sitting in her little camping chair/baby carrier happy as a clam.

what a fun time. jaron is quite the photographer these days, love that picture of the river.

i know what you mean about having your kids love nature. we go for nautre walks every day and velzy love to tromp off in the woods, pick up rocks and throw them in the little stream, and play with sticks. it is so much more fun that being inside.

someday we should try to meet up and go on a campout together!
