Holiday Treats. Some are better than others.

(Warning- if you are pregnant or have an otherwise weak stomach I strongly advise you not to read this post)

DO you remember this family night discussion a few months ago? The one where Jaron introduced to Olivia and Warner the fact that there are actually living creatures out there that eat poo. Yes that's the one. Well, Warner has had a slight obsession with POO ever since that family home evening. Any time anyone in the house has to use the potty, Warner rushes to the scene, knocks on the door, and asks "Hey! Mom (Dad, or Olivia whoever it is) Are you going poo?" Then he insists we let him come inside so that he can see it, and so that he himself can flush it down the toilet. Disturbing I know.

I didn't think too much of his little obsession, until something horrible happened.  While staying in my mom's house a few weeks ago over Christmas break, somebody forgot to flush the toilet, and guess what happened? Warner discovered it, and ate it. Yes he ATE poo. We made this discovery when he came in to the room that we were sitting in and started spitting up this brown stuff. I immediately walked over to him and said Warner what are you spitting out? I picked up a piece, took a sniff, and within moments had my gag reflex working full throttle.  I screamed. Jaron screamed. We all screamed. All, except Warner who was still spitting out/gnawing on the rest of the poo that was stuck in his teeth with a grimace on his face.

I quickly rushed to the bathroom where there was a cup half full of water on the sink. It is one that I had previously used at night to rinse my mouth out with. I found it convenient that it already half full of water.  I handed it to Warner and said "Swish and spit".  He didn't get this whole swishing and spitting thing and instead just kept swallowing. Jaron came in to assist. In his calm state he took the cup that was now only a quarter full of water and tried his best to teach Warner how to swish and spit. It was then that he discovered the brown things floating in the cup of water! I guess in my frantic state I didn't notice them. To my defense it was a red cup that you couldn't see through.  It was at this point that we pieced things together and realized that Warner had used this very cup to scoop up the poo that he then drank and ate, and here we were feeding it to him again! Aah! If I had been pregnant I would have seriously been rushing myself to the bathroom at this point. I told Warner to open his mouth, where I then discovered the remnants of a piece of poo stuck on his teeth. There was nothing else I could do but brush it off of his teeth with his toothbrush, and try my best to get him to spit as much as possible.  Luckily, he obeyed marvelously at this point.  We got the poo out after some serious scrubbing and I threw away that toothbrush. I walked upstairs and asked my Mom if she had any Listerine?  She said she did and asked why.  I told her I wanted to give Warner some to drink. "He can't drink Listerine!" she said. To which I said, "Oh yes he can, he just ate poo!".

Wow! That is both disturbing and somewhat amusing. It would make a good blackmail story to share if he doesn't make it home on time for curfew when he's older!

Ahahaha!! Now you have a story to torture him with the rest of his life! Don't like the date he brought home? Tell her he eats poo!!

Hopefully he doesn't get sick or anything.

I think there is something liberating to kids when their parents say something that resolves around a "taboo" topic - that now it's completely free reign for anyone to now talk about it - regardless if it's wrong :)
