Three Years Old

Three year old's are amazing aren't they? I mean yes they can be sassy and throw a tantrum or two, but isn't it amazing how quickly they grow both mentally and physically? It's amazing to me how Olivia's language abilities have taken off.

I love how she tells stories.

(Cindrella told by Liv)
"Once upon a time, it says once upon a time, (she says pointing to the story book), you know how mom, you know how, because there is a big O. You see that? The pink O? Once upon a time there was a beautiful, beautiful, tiny, little girl, named Cinderella. And she had a , a, (pointing to the evil step-mother) a, what is she Mom?"

"A wicked step-mother"

"Oh. A wicked step-mother, and her had two daughters named, what's their names mom?"

"Drizella and Anastasia."

"Rizella and Anastasia. And they were mean and rude and yelled at Cinderella. And her got sad. And her dreamed. And the castle. And then they ripped her pretty pretty pink and white dress and broke her necklace. And her was so sad."

And on and on. She does a pretty good job of re-capping. It's amazing how well she listens and absorbs when I read her a story.

I also love how she prays:

"Dear Heavenly Father,
I'm grateful for the great big, big, light, dark day. And when we do something we do something. And we talk to each other and are nice. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen".

Today in the car I was laughing at these words she said while tearing apart a daffodil that she found on the ground:

"Mom, I'm so sorry I'm ruining my flower you know?"

Tear. Tear.

"I'm just, just so sad I'm ruining the flower. I'm sorry flower that I'm making you so small".

Rip. Rip.

I know there are a few hard things about having a three year old, but there are mostly a lot of good things. She loves to help me in the kitchen, and the whole time I let her help me she will repeatedly say "I love helping you mom".

She also loves to help with Warner. The other day I heard him crying pretty hard from his crib and I ran up the stairs to get him and before I got to the door I said "I'm coming Warner", Liv, who was right at my heals, said "I'm coming too Warner".

We really adore her. It seems like every age our children get to I just want to freeze them, except of course two, we could have skipped that year, and we all would have been ok.

Enjoy your three year old. :)

I love three year olds too. I remember you when you were that age. How wonderful that you are capturing the preciousness of it in your detailed accounts of her little sayings and doings. It's great for grandmas too. Keep it up.
