The Lights on the Water

What do you do when the kids are asleep in the hotel and your Mom is there to watch them? You TAKE ADVANTAGE and go out with the husb! That is just what we did. And it ended up being one of my most favorite moments of the trip. O.K. probably my favorite.
Right outside our hotel was a pathway that lead from our hotel to downtown Victoria via a path along the harbor. The lights from all of the big hotels and buildings on the water were magnificent. It was so quiet. It was just us for most of the walk. It reminded me of the Thames River at night in London.
We felt like young kids again as we explored around downtown with out the kids. We snooped our way into the Empress which is a SUPER fancy hotel that the Queen of England stays in when she comes to Victoria. It was like a fancy Cathedral with doors laced with Gold, and fine glass, and fine furniture, and fine everything. We felt a little out of place in our scrubby jeans and t-shirts, but oh well.
The capitol was quite a site to see (pictured below). Jaron did a great job taking these photos as hard as it was to capture the lights with out a tri-pod.
