A Few of My Favorite Things

Do any of you have songs that make cycles getting stuck in your head every so often? Well I do, and the main source of these songs often comes from my favorite old time classic movie, The Sound of Music. Today while showering with Liv I began singing "A Few of My Favorite Things" which just so happened to be the stuck song of the day. And as I was singing as loud as I could and enjoying the echo that the shower was making of my voice, I thought of a few of changes that I might make to the song, here they are.

Corn on the cob and sweet smelling barbeques
Rainbow slippers and Utah lake altitudes
Waffles with syrup and cream in the morning
These are a few of my favorite things!

Vaude baby carriers and glorious water falls
Grandma Popes house and hitting brand new tennis balls
Blogs that are witty and entertaining
These are a few of my favorite things!

When the baby poops
When the house is dirty
When I'm feeling grumpy
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so sad!

Here's to Messy Diapers!

I never thought I'de say this, but among the vast world of blessings that I feel so grateful for, today I feel especially grateful for messy diapers.

Olivia has had the flu for the past few days, and has been a little dehydrated due to a lack of appetite. I never realized until now how grateful I am for her regular wet diapers that she has when she wakes up from every nap, because I know that she is healthy and not dehydrated.

It's pretty crazy when I find myself praying and hoping that when she wakes up from a nap she will have a soaking wet diaper.

I guess there are a lot of things in life that you could look at this way, things that seem so mundane and part of every day life, but when taken away, we realize how blessed we are to have them. Like doing laundry, in the moment of actaully doing it I always feel bored and sick of it, but I'm so grateful that I have clothes to clean. Or doing the dishes. This is my absolute least favorite thing to do, yet it has to be done three times a day everyday. But I'm so grateful that I have a kitchen of my own that I can cook in and clean.

So there you have it. I'm so grateful for messy diapers. Come one Liv, please have a wet diaper!

Picture of Liv with Elder Oaks

This is a photo of Liv and Elder Oaks taken at Michael and Carina Tew's wedding Luncheon. Elder Oaks was sitting at the table directly adjacent to us and Kelly was kind enough to go over and ask him to take a picture with Liv. Thanks Kel! I'm so glad that you weren't shy. This picture is priceless. Hopefully Liv will understand it better when she is older. At the moment she didn't' seem too amused.
