Halloween Festivities

I have got to admit that of all the holidays in the year, Halloween is not one that I get too excited for. It was really fun as a little kid, dressing up, and going house to house to retrieve oodles and oodles of candy, but its just not the same when you're an adult. I always feel a little silly dressing up, and I don't get as excited now that I have to buy my own candy and I don't get to go from house to house to show off that year's home-made costume.

In spite of my general distaste for the festivities, Jaron and I have actually done quite a bit for the Halloween season. We started it all out last thursday at our ward Halloween Party/ Chili Fest. The picture above was taken the night of the Ward Party. After some scavenging around the house we came up with our costumes: A Large Ballerina (Unfortunately he forgot to turn on his little air puffer before the picture but you can imagine what he looked like, it was a smash hit at the party) A Moroccan Princess, A Skunk, and A Very Scary Witch! Then on Saturday Night Pepper hooked us up with some free tickets to Corn Belly's Maze at Thanksgiving Point and boy did we have a good time. We went through the haunted maze, and yes its true, in case any of you were wondering Jaron does in fact scream like a girl. It was hilarious. But we were both honestly scared out of our minds with all of the crazies popping out of the scary corn fields with chain saws and air guns.


In conclusion, it has already been a surprisingly fun Halloween, and we still have one party left to go to up at Taryn's house with all of my friends on Halloween. I'll let you know how it turns out.

In lieu of the upcoming holiday, I thought I might share some happy news that I read in a TIME magazine article, with all of you chocolate lovers out there: are you ready, no really, are you ready? In a nut shell the article said that CHOCOLATE IS GOOD FOR YOU! Yay! Clap your hands! Cause its true. Research on consuming chocolate has shown that eating chocolate provides many health benefits such as: happier moods (caused by the chocolate stimulating a happy hormone in the brain called Serotonin) (well thats no surprise), smoother skin, antioxidants (thanks to the flavinoids found in cocoa), lower blood pressure, and a healthier heart. Isn't that great!?? So in order to do what is really best for my body, while also trying feel the spirit of the holiday, I have guiltlessly been devouring a plethora of fun sized m&m's, kit-kat bars, chocolate chips, and butterfingers. (Shhh. . . no one tell her that the article actually was referring to dark chocolate and that you are only supposed to consume a little bit every day).

Athena- The Goddess of Wisdom (i.e. Momma Brown)

Jaron and I just said goodbye to Momma Brown who flew in last Wednesday, and is on her way home as we speak. She flew in to see the better half (sorry Derek and Bryce) of her children who are out west (i.e. Amber, Danny, Pepper, Archie, Jaron, Liv, and I, and she would have seen Chelice too, but she had a funeral to attend in Idaho). It was a great trip and we were sad to say goodbye to our Momma Brown!
Olivia will miss her Grandma. When we picked her up from the airport I was a little nervous that Liv wouldn't be warm, but on the contrary she smiled at Grandma Brown in the back seat of our car for a half hour straight on the way home.

While Momma Brown was here we had lots of fun eating good homemade meals, playing games, shopping, hiking, planet earthing, and just generally chilling.

She was even kind enough to watch Olivia for us so that Jaron and I could go to the UVSC (soon to be UVU) Scholarship Ball with my Parents.

Its been a good week with her and the Brown's. And lucky for us we get to see her and the rest of the Brown's at Christmas time. We look forward to it. Thanks for flying out Momma Brown. And thanks to Bryce, Derek, and Papa Brown for sacrificing there Goddess of wisdom. :)

Arcade Fire Fun

It turns out one of our friends grew up with the Butler boys (Win and Will) of the Arcade Fire, and since they were coming to town to play a show...

We got together before the show in the afternoon for some basketball. Turns out Win and Will Butler are REALLY into ball (Win has the new Lebron's and Will is the proud owner of Steve Nash's signature shoe- I on the other hand played in some low-top vans). In the picture above we have Joe (friend of mine at BYU) Webb going up and over the 6'5" Win. Good job Joe. Teams were always band vs. cousins, friends and friends of friend (me)














Win (and his team usually did) is a big boy, and only a full court press could keep things even halfway in control. Here I'm covering Win, the guy in the red headband is his brother Will, french hornist, Kelly and techie guy Don Lee are in black. The court is at Thanksgiving Point where the show was.

After the basketball we all got cleaned up, then they played a terrific show and then we hung out for a bit at after the show in this backstage area. This picture is (L to R) The Webb family and spouses, Win and Regine Butler, Jess and me.

First I'de like to thank Kel for showing me this sweet free blog site where I found my new and updated blog. Yay.

Now. I was going through my pictures and realized I hadn't posted any pictures of Liv in her cute swim suit all summer! How it happened I do not know! But before its too late I wanted to post them.

Today as I was getting ready in my bathroom down stairs I heard some lovely music coming from an un-tuned guitar and my little sister Jenny's voice. As most of you know Jenny sings in a low opera voice and makes up words (which sometimes resemble a few primary songs/hymns mixed together). Well today I was cracking up because as she was softly strumming the highly out of tune guitar, she was singing the words "I am righteous. . . need to be. . . I am righteous. . . need to beeeeeee!!!".

It was beautiful. After she finished each song it was as if she was consulting with an invisible band she would say: "Nice job. Thats a wrap. Oh? One more. Ok, one more. Here we go" and then she would precede: "I am righteous. . . need to be. . .often go walking in meadows. . .I am righteous" in her low opera voice. Luckily for me this went on for about twenty minutes.

Then at the end of each song she would smile at her audience which probably in real life was thousands of angels and me inconspicuously peaking around the corner.
