On September 11, 2007, last Tuesday, birthday boy- Jaron gave a wonderful presentation of his research on Hobble Creek to a group of scholars in Lake Placid New York.
Why did I go you ask? Well, seeing how Jaron was presenting and he was going to be so nervous and all, we considered it necessary that Liv and I accompany him for "moral support", ok and to see New England. :)
We flew through JFK, and onto Burlington VT where we then rented a car and drove to Lake Placid. This is a picture of Ausable Chasm that we found on our drive to Lake Placid. It's a big huge hole in the ground. It was beautiful!
We arrived in Lake Placid Sunday night. The hotel was really nice and comfortable.

On Monday morning while Jaron had to go to some conference meetings, Liv and I took a walk around Mirror Lake. I took time to stop and take a picture of some berries I saw along the trail.
This is Mirror Lake. Our hotel had a great view of this beautiful Lake. The trees were just starting to change colors.
Once Jaron was done with meetings we walked around the little quaint town. We both felt like we were in Switzerland or somewhere with the paved roads, beautiful flowers decorating the city, and the beautiful scenery.
Did we ever tell you that Liv knows how to fly? Oh well she does. This picture was taken of her while she was flying by us in the air. And you thought super powers only happened on TV? Ha!
Ok, ok, she doesn't fly, it was just Jaron doing some acrobatics with our little grape nut.
Oh, we found this sweet little swing set right on the Lake and we swung as the sun was going down.
It was dreamy.
After our little swing we mozzied on over to this little dock.
On Tuesday was the big birthday boy's day to present. Jaron did wonderfully. It was one of those moments where I thought to myself, "Man, I'm lucky to be married to such a smart and accomplished guy".
After the big presentation Jaron ditched out on the rest of the presentation and we went canoing in Mirror Lake. This is a picture of Liv riding around on Dad's shoulder's with her hands tightly holding on to his ears. This is the position she resumes whenever she rides on Dad's shoulders.
*After our lovely visit to Lake Placid we drove back to Burlington where we got on a plane and flew to JFK where we had an extended lay over. From JFK we hopped on a shuttle, then a train, and just a mere 11 hours after leaving Lake Placid (ugh!) we arrived in Hamden, Connecticut where we found the Davis family!
We crammed in so many things in the short amount of time we had there. The first day we were there, Kelly was kind enough to take Liv for the day while Jaron and I ventured down to Boston. We toured the city and saw Wicked! We absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it.
These pictures to the right were taken on Friday afternoon when we went and had a delicious Teryaki (spelling?) salmon dinner at the beach. I have to admit, the Atlantic ocean on the east coast isn't quite as dreamy as the Pacific shores of Hawaii, but it was still a fun time none the less.

We were all in sweaters, except for Mathew of course, who was frolicking out into the waves painlessly.
On Saturday we took off in a cram-packed mini van with three kids, four adults, and a baby and headed to THE BIG APPLE.
Our first stop after a long walk from the car, was the beautiful Manhattan temple. It's amazing how, although much shorter and smaller than the surrounding buildings, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

There was something about this sight of Moroni, after searching for the temple that just brought a feeling of home amidst the busy surroundings.
After we found the temple we made our way to 30 Rock, where we rode the elevator up 67 floors and came out to this beautiful sight! What a cool city.
The view was awesome!

One thing I noticed about the east coast is that in only a few hours you can cover a lot of territory: in total we visited five states while we were there (Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts).
