Cause we do. Here's a little story of a family that was itchin to go on one last road trip before baby number three arrived.
After a two hour drive headed northbound, the mini van having received its share of love, tears, and crumbs, unloaded its antsy passengers into the parking lot of a hotel in one Birch Bay, Washington.
Happy were the little children that once again were able to let their limbs jump and run and wrestle on the hotel beds.
"Why does anyone take their children to Disney land when all they really need is one springy, hideously adorned hotel bed", their mothered wondered as she watched her children laugh and jump.
"Jump! Jump! Jump!" the little boy chanted happily.
After unwinding, unpacking, and a little bit of swimming, two tired children were ready for food and sleep. Night night little ones.
Saturday morning came with a smile on its face, and this little family was ready to go for a boat ride to explore the bay and search for seals.
So, drive to the coast they did, and wait they did. . .
And grumpy they got, until a kind older sister was loving enough to share a snack with her little brother.
And happy he was.
And while they waited some more for the elusive boat to show its happy face,
they pretended that they were fairies on a beach finding lots of shells and treasures.
And their Dad skipped rocks. Boom boom boom boom skip.
And Alas! What was this, but the beloved Plover here to take them on a grand tour of the bay.
The happy sailors boarded the ship.
They eagerly looked out the window to see what their eyes could find. And many things did they see: seals, eagles, seagulls, eagles eating seagulls, the Canadian border, and the bay amongst other things.
Then, the little fairy girl, decided it wasn't enough to simply sit and watch the captain drive the boat, and as she has learned it doesn't hurt to ask, as long as we ask nicely, she asked that captain if she could drive the boat.
And drive the boat she did.
As did he.
And they both became honorary captains of the beloved Plover.
Upon arriving back at the hotel something appeared in the sky. It was big, and golden, and was casting warm rays down upon the children and the children asked "Mother! Mother! What is that big thing in the sky?" And the mother replied "Dearest children, that is the sun" (you see, it had been so long since the children had seen it, that they had forgotten what it was).
Swimsuits and floaties were dawned and the next four hours involved nothing but, sunshine, chlorine, and splashing.

While big sister gained her confidence in jumping into the pool all by herself, little brother entertained himself by learning how to propel him self around the pool in his new life jacket. He would simply bicycle his feet in a forward motion and move very little, while working very hard. His mom and dad laughed really hard when someone turned on the jets in the hot tub and the happy little floater was whisked away into the circular current of the hot tub with a confused look on his face. After some dinner, and a nice walk on the beach whilst eating some ice cream cones, this little family was worn out and ready to sleep.
Sunday morning was absolutely lovely. The family loved the car ride as they passed green pastures, giant tractors, and beautiful grape vineyards.
Walking into church, mom and dad were deciding whether or not to stay for all three hours of church, when their devoted little girl exclaimed "I'm so excited to meet new friends in primary!" and that settled it. Mom and dad were humbled once again by the example of their sweet little growing four year old.
That sunday afternoon provided the family with lots of love, lots of sunshine and lots of beautiful moments.
They headed to a camp ground where Papa smurf built a beautiful fire,
fairy princess played in wild flowers whilst singing made up songs,
and little boy blue kicked a ball with mom.
Hot dogs were roasted.
And enjoyed.
Watermelon bites with all of their memorial day juiciness were digested.
And craziness was definitely present while
marshmallows were roasted and consumed.
And peace, yes peace and tranquility was felt all around.
The fire was sizzled, the van packed up again, and the family drove back to the beach where a very pink sun was devotedly watched as it said goodnight to the beach and all the people on it. As the thoughtful mom watched the sun go down, she felt grateful for the people who surrounded her, as well as for the people that didn't surround her, but who were possibly up in heaven looking down on the beach combing family. These people include the mothers dad. the fathers dad, and beloved grandparents who lived noble lives and have passed on to the other side.

Goodnight sunday.
Hello monday.
Goodbye hotel (sniff, sniff).
Hello Whatcom falls.
And the family came home from their trip. And the mom was very tired. And didn't feel like doing laundry and cleaning the house. And then she got sick. And now she is writing this blog at 5:00am in the morning because her back aches and she can't breathe.
And thus we see it must needs be that there is opposition in all things.
The End.
